The Alexander Technique with Jill Payne

Tension
AT reduces physical and emotional tension and improves symptoms of pain or stress so you look, feel and function better in every way. 

Pain and Postural Problems
Regular lessons are proven to control pain and improve posture.  They do this by "limiting muscle spasm, strengthening postural muscles, improving co-ordination and flexibility and decompressing the spine." (BMJ 2008)  Many people get taller for this reason too! 

Mobility and Existing Conditions
Even progressive conditions can be managed to give you less pain, better balance and quality of movement.   The symptoms of Parkinson's or Cerebral Palsy, arthritic conditions or breathing problems can be reduced markedly.  Even babies benefit from the gentle hands-on work (see the page on Baby Sasha).

Athletes and artistes have long used the Technique to optimise their performance, avoid injury and control performance-related stress.   It is a standard part of training in world-class music and drama schools and is applied at the highest levels of sport.
